Van Morrison was 23 years in 1968, year of Astral Weeks released. He was on this solo career (after the finish of his blues/rock band, Then) and also was composed one of your hits, “Brow Eyed Girl”, a year before, with more 12 songs that released in the first album solo, “Blowin‘ your mind”. But Van it was confused, probably because of the first thing that a man stay depressed: problems with lovely’s woman. And was this confused who inspired Van released the 8 songs of “Astral Weeks” in just 3 days.
Maybe more than a simple record, “Astral” is like a therapy, a travel to open’s hurts of someone. It seem Van, in front of a mirror that show all of your pains, is crying for to find a exit; how he don’t receive answers, he decides comes in own mirror. There, Van stays surprised: there aren’t cure for your hurts nor explains for your doubts, even he cries until your death. The report of this melancholic travel in your own mirror, and the redemption for recognize your pain, are the 8 songs of “Astral Weeks”.
Like a few singers in the music, Van Morrison doesn’t shout, or cry, in “Astral Weeks”: he “howl”, left yours feelings leads his voice in the “Astral Weeks” songs.
